Coventry-based artist James Robinson took his training in theatre design into a 25-year career as a classroom teacher of Art and Design, before retiring to set up his own art practice, partly inspired by a 4-year residency in South Korea. He works in a broad range of media including watercolour, oils, clay and ‘found’ nature such as twigs and branches to create the strange and/or beautiful, exploring character, dynamism and texture.
James welcomes you to his studio to explore and discuss his most recent work, including brush-and-ink drawings, garden and table-top sculptures and ceramics, combining twisting human forms with exotic and endangered animals from around the world. A selection of framed/unframed prints and cards of his work will also be on sale.
