The challenge of trying to capture the essence of life within a person's or animal’s face is what inspires me to create every day. In almost every case my picture starts with the eyes; if there isn’t life in the eyes, then the picture will never truly connect with the viewer. Primarily working in pencils, both graphite and coloured, whilst occasionally dipping my toe in the world of watercolour, I love working in monochrome, focusing on the light and shade of an image in the hope of creating an impactful picture.
I began drawing in 2017 and now display and sell my art at shops and markets throughout Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds. I have successfully exhibited in Banbury and Leamington Spa and have been shortlisted for three national competitions.
This is my 4th year taking part in Open Studios and I am excited to be exhibiting for the first time in my home village of Bishop's Itchington alongside three very talented local artists.
