Rhoda Bertz is an artist who has been working in oils for over 30 years. She enjoys the slow-drying viscosity and depth and subtleness of colour. She also includes found materials and collage materials into her work.
Her inspiration comes from materials and how they interact, from surfaces degraded and changed by the environment. Her work has a strong sense of mark making and material. The paintings are often thickly layered and distressed. The artist often uses found fragments in her work, making valuable & beautiful things that have been discarded
She has exhibited in Germany, France, UK and Upstate New York. In 2007 she gained a Master's in Fine Art from Coventry University.
The exhibition is in collaboration with Sheila Herring Ceramics.
