I work in a variety of mediums and have previously exhibited my textile works at Warwickshire Open Studios, so showing my painting, mixed media and collage works is new. I create most of my works using a similar technique: layering. Materials are built up to achieve depth of colour and texture. In my paintings I often use found objects to print with and use a variety of tools to mark make. My collages are made from papers I have previously painted or printed and also found papers. I often stitch into these works to add texture. The starting points for my work can be diverse: a picture of a landscape, a line from a favourite song, an emotion or my current mood. I frequently work in series, often laying down the first layer or two of paint with the panels all together and make marks across them as if they were all one surface, adding detail to each one once they have been separated.
