Art in the Square
I am trying to capture a sense of time passing, of things changing – how our grasp on the past can become fragile and distorted with time, but that this can be something that is beautiful. Each piece is seasonal and tries to capture a sense of atmosphere: the weather, the time of day and the light.
The paintings evolve kind of organically; made and unmade as images are worked over with translucent layers so that fragments of other paintings can be made out like memories that are fading, as if the past is embedded on the canvas beneath layers that grow over them.
