I am a handwoven textile designer and will be exhibiting and demonstrating on one of my looms, with my daughter Sarah in Leamington Spa.

My scarves and shawls are one-off accessories in silk, cashmere, wool and linen in a vibrant colour palette to give a lustrous and iridescent finish. I use colour and texture rather than complex weave structures to achieve this. Former travels in South-east Asia are one of my sources of inspiration.

One of my designs, woven shibori, a Japanese technique, is used to produce permanent pleats in the fabric which create movement of colour from one side of the the scarf to the other.

During lockdown, I started weaving linen teatowels as a diversion from the horrors of the pandemic using linen yarn from a previous project.

Sarah's career across fine art, textiles and art will include painting, drawing and collage.
