I wanted to be a painter when I started art college 30 years ago, but I got distracted by the possibilities of clay. I often feel like I am just preparing very technical canvases in order to enjoy the moment of exhilaration when the brush makes contact with the clay.
These vessels are made by combining ceramic techniques and with the intention to be 3D canvases. The surface decoration is informed by my drawing practice. My main agenda when doing these is to have fun and let the materials flow.
