Our Open Studio event is in our courtyard garden, on our organic farm. My work combines stained glass with hard-shelled gourds, which I have grown here on the farm. The gourds are made into thunder gourds (which make the sound of distant thunder when shaken), and lanterns with inset glass – both hanging and free-standing. Recently I have been turning glass offcuts into beautiful sun-catchers and other small ornaments such as bunches of flowers, some mounted on gourd bases. Other artists taking part here are Viv Egid (ceramics), Jane Ingall (printed paper and fabric) and Angie Holland (lino prints).
