Jacqui works in various ways to create her art. Felting, painting and collaging with vintage and hand-dyed fabrics which she then embellishes with free machine embroidery. She often combines all these skills to produce her interesting designs and textures.
She is predominantly a felt maker and, for the most part, practises the wet felting technique. By layering pre-dyed Merino wool, silks, and threads she builds up a painterly design with the fibres, much like building up a loosely painted acrylic. When the felt is dry, stitch detail is added by machine and hand to give a much finer definition. Jacqui will be showing a new body of work at St Nicholas House, which will include a selection of 2D framed originals, felted vessels and scarves, plus prints, cards and coasters depicting some of her favourite designs.
Jacqui runs felting workshops in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Details can be found on her website and on the Workshops section of the WOS website.
