Holly Brandrick is a visual artist based in Shipston-on-Stour. The work is an extension of her everyday life – drawing upon photos taken, films seen, emotions felt, stories read etc. in order to create oil paintings that depict a world which is not too far from reality, yet still give a sense of strangeness and mystery. Narratives transpire through the characters and their unusual surroundings, with symbolism playing a large role in aiding this story-telling. Symbolic references can range from topics such as death, love, loneliness, religion and everything in between. Holly uses the work as a way of processing the world around her.
