Creating fused glass is an addictive occupation and a great creative outlet. For me, it is all about how the colours will react in the heat of the kiln and then afterwards in the sunlight. There are many different techniques to producing fused glass and lots of different types of glass to explore. Because of this, I find it a fascinating subject with endless possibilities. I enjoy cutting intricate shapes from sheets of glass to makes colourful, transparent bowls or playing with a mixture of transparent and opaque to cast interesting shadows. Recently I have been exploring ways of using powdered glass in an ancient technique called Pate de Verre and also using frit (small chips of glass) in a variety of techniques. Come and talk to me about glass and I will show you some of the different ways to create with it, including freezing it into interesting shapes!
I will be exhibiting alongside KJ Matthews whose amazing artforms are book arts and paper, photography and printmaking.
