The sources of my work are many and varied. Some are of course from personal experience, such as seeing sailing boats in Antigua (though not actually sailing in them). Others are from images in newspapers or television, such as the series on Winter Walks. But it is important for me to be able to see the potential for them to become abstract paintings, balancing colour and shape in interesting ways. Recently I have been using collage more and more, such as newsprint and handmade paper; I love the almost random effect of such materials and the way they add lovely texture.
Two other artists are exhibiting with me this year – Ann Forrester with her beautiful painted rendering of nature and Liz Townsend with her gorgeous works in paint and collage.
