In my head I’m a painter but over the past ten years I’ve been increasingly seduced by fabric and stitch. All art for me is an exploration of colour and texture and I have come to the conclusion that textile art allows for the greatest flexibility and produces the happiest results. I have no formal training or education in embroidery, it’s just been a case of trial and error, but I’m drawn to stitch as a link to all the women throughout history who darned, knitted and stitched to keep their homes comfortable and their families warm. It’s an act of love.
This year I am exhibiting at Ettington Church again, as part of the Stratford-upon-Avon Visual Arts Forum.
