Chris is a Warwickshire-based cabinetmaker, designing and building wooden furniture with traditional joinery techniques by hand – largely inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement.
"All the pieces I make are made to order. They're designed, marked out, sawed, planed, chiseled, constructed, sanded and finished by me alone.
I hope that each piece I make can bring daily joy to someone's life every time it's seen, touched and used.
I prefer to use hand tools where possible. It creates a peaceful environment, less dust in the air, keeps me healthy, and uses no electricity – great for the planet!
It gives individuality to each piece with the subtle marks they leave. Each cut or chop is a hand-printed memory, etched into the wood – giving it new life."
Chris will be demonstrating his woodworking skills for visitors throughout the exhibition – this could be sharpening a hand plane, cutting a dovetail or (most likely) searching for a pencil. You are welcome to visit!
