My paintings reflect and take inspiration from my career as a fashion designer, creating fabulous clothes for beautiful people. I transfer my passion and skills to painting where my vibrant pictures are an extension of my life and the way I see nature and the world. All this demands that I layer paint, tissue paper and texture to arrive at a composition which is exciting and full of surprising colour in a semi-abstract form.
Lately I have explored an old copper tank stained with turquoise verdigris, resulting in a series of increasingly abstract images.
I am delighted to be showing with two artists whose work is complementary. Mary Stenning is a talented textile artist and embroideress who creates highly textured and evocative pieces recalling her garden and her travels and studies in India and Mexico. Hilary LaForce makes stunning, tactile individual ceramic pieces, drawing inspiration from the erosion of landscape and ancient pottery vessels.
