Fosse Way
Metalwork, Woodwork, Woodturning

Colin Purdy woodturner / metalworker.
The inherent beauty of wood with its wonderful variety of grain, bark and natural edges is the inspiration for these unique pieces.
He is a lifelong maker, and constantly experiments in all aspects of the designing and making process. Colin chooses to let the natural wonder of wood speak for itself.
Pieces of wood with deviant tree forks and roots, which cannot be easily split, are rescued from wood piles and transformed into beautiful one-of-a-kind objects. In fact, he rarely uses ‘new’ wooden blanks and has an eye for the bowl lying within an old decaying piece of wood. Inevitably, the bowls he produces will show the accompanying characteristics of splits, worm holes and knots.
Colin also uses sheet steel offcuts, which are beaten into hollow forms using silversmithing & forging techniques.
