Charlie Mackenzie-Barrow is at the start of her career but has many exciting projects in the works. Her work mainly focuses on portraiture, looking at how she can communicate her perspective on the world. Her main techniques are oil painting, tonal pencil drawing and photography, however she likes to experiment with different techniques like wire sculpture and printing. She is working on developing her skills and building her work; over the past few months she has been teaching children online and producing several stylised pieces for a devised Zoom play with Nottingham Television Workshop. Charlie has worked on several commissions from pets and family memories, to works inspired by other artists for display. During the pandemic she has been learning and exploring new skills that she hopes to use more in her work in the future, and is developing another series that analyses the Male Gaze and the Female Gaze. She looks forward to sharing her work in person this year.
