Working with recycled materials.
Handmade beads are made from discarded packaging; egg boxes and beer cans provide a versatile base.
The beads go through many processes – shaping, drying, painting, tumbling – and end up resembling the sort of beads you might find in an ancient tomb.
The bird paintings are also based on a waste product – old broken fence panels. I let the inherent qualities of the weathered grain enhance the painting.
My hospital paintings are accompanied by text and tell stories. These can be seen in the Walsgrave hospital, Coventry and the Marie Curie Hospice Solihull.
Also exhibiting at Art in the Park 2020.
Regular workshops for bead and necklace making in my Warwickshire cottage.
