Blues of sky and pinks and greens of summer encourage me to work with bright, strong combinations of colour.
I am inspired by how nature changes and regenerates itself. I create linear patterns in paint and stitch, reflecting the entanglement of plants and make connections with regrowth by reusing older fabric alongside the new.
Using weave, dye, stitch and screenprint, I love that my bespoke slings, seat coverings and footstools are created to be sat upon, give visual and tactile impact whether inside or out.
Alongside knit and velvets I often leave frayed edges, loose threads and cascading fabric lengths to reflect the natural climbing growth of plants; these move in the wind and catch the light with the essence of summer breezes. I have reupholstered furniture with my constructed fabric, often creating rag rugged seats.
See the studio, enjoy the views, art and a cuppa.
In addition to Pig Cotes Barn, I have a small installation in St Mary's Allotments Arts Trail, Leamington.
