With a background in engineering and teaching design, Colin has developed an open-ended style unconstrained by traditional rules. He has exhibited for several years with Open Studios and in Art in the Park as well as with Leamington Studio Artists.
On leaving school Colin worked on a tool making apprenticeship with a small firm in High Wycombe; he then took a furniture making course before a teaching career, teaching practical subjects in Bridgnorth, Shropshire for 30 years. On leaving teaching, he designed and made a wide variety of products in many materials.
He has been woodturning for about 25 years, exploiting the natural features in mainly found and discarded timber. Although much of his work is in wood, his work in metal covers many skills of engineering and silversmithing. His beaten steel work is an unusual approach, producing a mix close to forge work and silversmithing.
