Woodturning

Born in a small coal-mining village in Yorkshire, David had a long successful career in the Royal Air Force, after which he worked in a local authority school until his retirement.
David’s family emigrated to Australia in the early 70s and it was on a family visit to his parents that his father enticed David into trying woodturning. The ability to transform a dead piece of wood into a beautiful and usable object had him hooked. This could also be why David has an abundance of exotic woods from the southern hemisphere in his workshop.
David is inspired and passionate about creating unique quality writing instruments, with his work being exhibited in galleries across the Midlands.
He has had many commissions to make pens from treasured family mementoes, most notably an Erard Grand Piano.
You can find his work on his website, Facebook and Instagram pages and you can also follow him on Twitter at
