Textiles

Christine works with silk and related natural fibres to create 'fabric' and textures to produce sensitive, emotive, abstract images. Layers of these materials are either subtly hand dyed or used in their natural state, that with an 'Absence of Colour' has a simple timeless beauty. Much of Christine's work is hand stitched, sometimes pieces are so intensely worked that the stitch becomes an integral part of the whole fabric, Individually the materials are tenuous, insubstantial, but Christine's use of them gives a strength that is both symbolic and complete.
Drawing on inspiration from her surroundings and Celtic heritage; ancient ruins, coastal pathways, cliffs and always the sea, continue to inspire her textiles with an unlimited visual impact of colour, texture and line.
Christine has exhibited widely, undertaken commissioned pieces for private collections and specialist publications. She mentors her group Calamanco.
