Exhibiting in a cycle shop was an opportunity not to be missed. I love to capture the speed and fluidity of motion in sport and dance, but cycling is my favourite. 2012 was the initial inspiration for a painting I called Velocity, based on team events in the Velodrome. The Tour de Yorkshire was then the catalyst for paintings based on road cycling.
Previous paintings featuring Trott, Ennis, Bolt and Daly have been shown in Leamington as part of my 2012 and 2016 Olympic inspired exhibitions. My sport based work has also been shown in Sheffield and Manchester. As a result, I was commissioned to paint one of the GB Paralympic team in action. This was followed by works inspired by football, motorsport and horse racing.
On the first Saturday of the exhibition, the 16th, I'll be in the cycle shop to chat.
