Contemporary ceramic jewellery designed and made by me, Jenny Brook, in my Leamington studio. All the beads and pendants are hand crafted from earthenware clay and high fired at around 1100C for durability. I then glaze the pieces using lead free glazes and fire them again between 1020 and 1080C depending upon the glaze applied. Several coats of glaze are needed for depth of colour. Some of the crackle glazes require up to 6 applications which need to dry out between each coat then, once I can see the cracks start to develop, I know they are ready for the kiln. After firing I assemble the pieces, sometimes adding crystals and using various stringing materials depending upon the design. I also make some of my own spacers and long earring wires from sterling silver.
