robin walden makes ceramic pieces in dark clay and porcelain. using starting on the wheel they are often altered and developed by hand. Pieces are marked using sgraffito or slip decoration. Glazes are self-developed using ash as a flux which gives complexity and subtlety. Work is fired to stoneware temperatures in a gas kiln.
many of the pieces are functional including vases, bowls ,salt cellars, mugs and range from mini objects to large dramatic work. please see www.robinwaldenceramics.com and www.facebook.com/robinwaldenceramics for examples. The studio in one of the Cotswolds most beautiful villages is a spacious 6m square and includes many examples both of robin walden's ceramics and other potters he admires or has drawn inspiration from including japanese and chinese pieces.
