I create bold, often fluted pieces with a rustic feel. Glazes bleed and mix together revealing the clay underneath. My work has commonalities but no two pieces are the same. I want it that way. I love choosing a pot to suit the mood I am in, drink I will have or friends I am enjoying it with. A hand thrown pot brings a cosiness and indulgence into the everyday. Hand thrown hygge.
While on holiday in Clovelly, I stumbled across a pottery studio & watched a demonstration of a pot being thrown. Alchemy. I was fascinated. I was lucky enough to get a space on a class at the Ceramics Studio. The brilliant Leyla Folwell gave me my first throwing lesson & I was well & truly hooked. Before long, I was finding it impossible to wait until my next class. Leyla advised me on how to go about setting up a studio in the summer house in my garden where I am now based.
I warmly invite you to come and take a look for yourself.
