Glass, Jewellery & Silversmithing

Enamel - the fusion of glass onto metal is a craft which has fascinated Penny Gildea for many years and she has been Chair of both the Guild of Enamellers and the British Society of Enamellers. Teaching and passing on the skills of this ancient craft on to others gives great pleasure. She has exhibited in many places such as Centrepiece in Birmingham, Torquil Gallery, Woodstock and Goldsmiths Hall as well as in Japan, America and Spain gaining awards in many. She has taken a leading role in both the prestigious exhibitions Heart of the Heat and Enamoured.

Recently, Penny has started to experiment with high firing enamel on copper. The outcome of this work can be seen in the enamelled bowls in this exhibition as well as jewellery and miniature landscapes.
