Storytelling is at the heart of my work, creating highly coloured, intricate sculptures preserved and captured in glass domes.
Using mixed media I create figurative and abstract works. Deconstructing objects leaves me with a collection of unusual components. Mixing natural materials with a menagerie of dismantled objects helps to soften their artificial nature and adds an often feminine and emotional quality. Disguising and repurposing scraps and fragments that would ordinarily be thrown away, I only use second hand or reclaimed materials. Hand making is at the core of my work, creating a unique appearance for each piece. The narratives are influenced by my childhood, parables, music, fairy tales, folklore, and the materials themselves. The stories I write often accompany the sculptures.
