Light by Night Photography (Carl Gallagher) captures images in low level light conditions to create beautiful vistas of celestial, atmospheric and Earthly subjects.

I have had a background in astronomy for over 30 years and Astro Photography for ten. My main focus is Milky Way imaging and for this I require a truly dark sky, hence the need for me to travel to wonderful inky black skies throughout the UK and abroad. One of life’s great pleasures is to witness the Milky Way, our own galaxy. In my work I try to introduce the eye to images which are sadly becoming harder to find due to the encroachment of light pollution.

Strong colour is a feature of my work, however I also like to capture images in black & white. I have been featured in BBC Sky at Night, and Astronomy Now Magazines and I am also a member of The British Astronomical Association.

I mount my own work in black or white , and have my Giclee prints committed to paper made entirely of cotton. I only print ten of each image.
