Karen Pittaway grew up in Cambridge, an area that informs much of her work, town and gown being a frequent theme in her busily people scenes. Educated in Cambridge and London she was awarded top honours for her final degree show. She moved to Kenilworth 35 years ago and ran a gallery in Warwick for several years whilst also painting murals in hotels around the country. She became a full-time artist about 20 years ago and has never looked back. Her work is distinctly British in character and has been likened to Lowry with its street scenes full of people. Painting a narrative is the thing that inspires her, she looks to capture the characters and happenings in the images she paints, many of which are local scenes, familiar to the people of Kenilworth. Her original paintings, prints and cards have sold to collectors around the world. Commission lead times vary, please enquire through the website. Preferred medium - oil on canvas.
