I was very pleased when my etching 'Forest Trail' was selected for the Coventry Open Exhibition last year, winter 2018-2019.
I was also successful with two of my prints being selected for display at the Leamington Open, Spring 2019, at the Leamington Art Gallery and Museum, the pump rooms. All three were sold.
I am based in Warwick and am exhibiting in Warwickshire Open Studios 2020 event with textile artist Beth Bolton in Leamington - but of course it is all virtual this year! All my prints are for sale - they come mounted, some are in plain frames ready to hang. Contact me for prices.
I make hand-printed images using copper-plate etching and aquatint inspired by landscape and nature. I love being outdoors, especially in wild or remote places and try to capture some of that feeling in my images - a mix of landscape, wildlife and menhirs!
My 'day-job' has variously been social historian, ergonomist, software designer, researcher. I discovered etching at a printmaking group seven years ago, and have been creating prints since then. As an artist I am largely self-taught (unless school A level art counts!) and have previously studied linocut-printing, airbrush and black & white photography – for me etching captures elements of all those. My style is quite bold, often using strong lines and printing in a range of colours to suit the feel of the image or the season. With hand-printing no two prints are identical, which increases the challenge and the sense of satisfaction in making them.
