A new decade, and 2020 continues the trend of change as I seek out new directions and challenges. These start with a house move. Happily, we will be remaining in the area, but it will give me a space to call a studio, and possibly the opportunity to begin teaching some classes, something I am often asked about. There will also be a first solo exhibition, and a group exhibition with newly-formed The Art Pool. All the important dates are below:
9th - 29th April 'The World Laughs in Flowers' - solo exhibition at Number 8 Arts Centre, 8 High Street, Pershore Worcestershire WR10 There will be an opening evening on Thursday 9th April. Details to follow. 1BGhttps://www.number8.org/
20th June - 5th July Warwickshire Open Studios Summer Art Weeks at St Gregory's Church, Offchurch AND as a member of The Art Pool, at LSA East Lodge, Willes Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 4ER. I will be splitting my time between the two venues, so follow on my Facebook page for updates about where to find me. https://www.facebook.com/janearcherart/
1st - 2nd August Art in the Park at Jephson Gardens, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. As last year, I will be in one of the LSA marquees for this fabulously fun event! ://www.artinpark.co.uk/
I discovered the joys of watercolour around twelve years ago while attending an evening class near where I lived in France. I immediately took to these slippery pigments, loving the way they handle, the effects that can happen when you least expect them, those happy accidents that can turn a picture into a painting. Initially drawn to florals, I also love to paint animals and birds and am now experimenting more with landscapes. We are always told not to look into the sun, but I am particularly drawn to big skies, and sunlight, the effects of light through leaves, and those moments when we are slightly blinded yet somehow can see the beauty in things more clearly.
