Sadly, it looks as though all the events I was due to take part in this year have been, or will be, cancelled. As I fall into a vulnerable category I have decided to lie low and hope that things will be looking better in 2021, and life will resume.
Meanwhile please browse my website: www.hilaryrobertsphotography.com. You will find my contact details on the last page. If you would like to buy something or discuss what else might be available, preferably please phone or email me rather than buy direct from the website. Arrangements can be made to post items, or probably to deliver or collect.
I have been involved in photography for over thirty years and I am a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and a Master of the International Federation of Photographic Art. However, I tend to see myself these days as an image maker rather than a photographer because although all the components of my work always start out in my camera, there is usually a lot of manipulation involved. I spend days, sometimes weeks, removing unwanted elements, adding others, harmonizing colours, and applying different, often 'painterly' effects to enhance the finished work.
My main objective is that people looking at my pictures feel good - about the world, about themselves, about life. ALL proceeds from the sale of my work go towards supporting a severely disabled little boy in Cuba with essential medical equipment and other items which are not available there.
My images come from this country and anywhere I travel, especially the wonderful island of Cuba. Some, especially my flower images, come from my home studio. I look for beauty, strangeness, humour, striking colour, amazing texture or the perfect light.
I produce giclée prints on a top quality professional printer and I always use textured, archival, acid free art paper, together with archival inks. This ensures that, given reasonable care, my images will still be giving pleasure in one hundred years' time!
