Having studied art up to graduate level Fleur's creativity re-emerged in later life with a realisation that it was in fact an essential part of her. Her journey to find new outlets and stimulation began with an Adult Education art class and then an oil painting group where her confident use of colour and free expression flourished.
Fleur finds inspiration from the natural world and more recently has been drawn to depict boats and the lived environment. Her lively, expressive style is based on the desire to create atmosphere and capture the play of light on buildings, boats, land and seascapes. All of her images are of places she has visited and felt connected with. She paints from her heart and always seeks to evoke an image which engages the viewer. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she has been influenced by the Impressionists, including Cezanne and continues to draw encouragement and inspiration from a wide range of contemporary painters.
Fleur's body of work has significantly developed since becoming part of an Warwickshire Adult Education class led by Kate Wiltshire. It was being part of this group that led her to become involved in Warwickshire Open Studios.
