Newly moved to north Oxfordshire from Dorset (via the south of France and Edinburgh) Deirdre exhibited a series of works based on her time in the Cote d'Azur at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Hospital, completed a commission for the Royal & Ancient Golf Club in Scotland and set up a studio in Ilmington, Warwickshire. Current work includes a series of portrait busts, starting in spring 2020 with the writer Virginia Wolf. While working in a studio at Summerhall (www.summerhall.co.uk) in Edinburgh between 2012-2017 she produced some of her best-known bronze portraits for public and private commissions. There are examples in the University of Edinburgh and in Glasgow’s City Chambers as well as in private collections in the UK, France and the USA. Her most important commission to date was to create a large bronze bust of Nelson Mandela for Glasgow’s City Chambers, after being selected from a shortlist of 6 leading Scottish Sculptors.
