I currently have a painting "Rainbow Remedy" shortlisted for this years David Shepherd Wildlife Artist of the Year Exhibition. It is soon to go on show at the world renowned Mall Galleries down in London as part of the selected works exhibition. This is a world wide competition with many hundreds of entries and it is a a real privilege to be selected to be hung in the exhibition.
Come and say hello in the heart of the lovely market town of Alcester, just outside Stratford-On-Avon. I have on show original paintings, works in progress, a variety of fine art prints as well as greetings cards. I am generally open by appointment only, unless there is an Open Studios event or exhibition on, so please be sure to get in touch before planning a visit.
Like many artists and photographers I love exploring light and colour. Recently I have been painting a large number of wild birds but I love to talk any subject matter, as long as there's some exciting light involved.
On top of this Alcester is a great place to visit with lots of interesting buildings, independent shops...and most importantly plenty of places to have tea and cake, enjoy a drink or have a meal!!
As well as the Open Studios Event keep an eye out for a larger exhibition later in the year.
“My paintings are a way for me to explore the wonder of the world around me, everything from exotic wildlife and the intrigue of places and people far from home, to simply the shadows cast across a sunlit street right outside my front door. What fascinates me most is the way light brings a subject to life.”
I was born in Leamington Spa in 1985 and as far back as I can remember I had a real interest in painting and drawing which continued all the way through my school years. After a slight deviation from the world of creativity for a few years, in 2010 I found myself working freelance creating custom artwork for guitars and other musical instruments.
In 2011 I made a move towards fine art painting, studying for as an apprentice in a working artist’s studio. Since then I have exhibited work at various venues around the UK.
I spent a year painting as an artist residence in the Arts Trail Gallery, Leamington Spa, where I got over my fear of painting in front of an audience, paving the way for a string of live painting demonstrations for local art societies.
