Jessica Timmis is an artist who uses painting and drawing to explore experiences and relationships. Part catharsis, part autobiography and part fantasy her work explores the dynamics pertinent in all our lives. She uses the family snap as a lens and resource to explore the deeper layers of family life.
She is particularly interested in the relationship between motherhood and creativity.
She is also an Art Psychotherapist.
She gained a BA In Art from Lancaster University in 2000 and then studied for an MA in Feminism and the visual arts at Leeds University where she gained a distinction.
After having her son she returned to study for an MA in Art Psychotherapy.
She has worked mainly with children since qualifying and sees her fine art practice and clinical work as connected.
