In 2014 I exhibited some of my paintings at Gallery 150 in Leamington Spa including several entries in the June Showcase exhibition where my picture of Crosby beach was used in the centre of the shop window display. I also exhibited three pictures of classic motor cars in the “Driven exhibition” which was sponsored by Jaguar in July 2014.
In August 2014 I painted a large canvas called “Manhattan sunset” at “Art in the park” in Jephson Gardens, Leamington. This was a fabulous event with many local artists and bands playing live music lasting all weekend. I was delighted to take part in this event again in August 2016.
I took part in Warwickshire Open Studios for the first time in June 2015 and I am pleased to be doing so again this year with lots of new paintings.
I have been a town planner, local government manager, business consultant and guesthouse owner but I'm now retired from paid work and I have the time to indulge my real creative passion to paint. I have taken lessons from several excellent local artist/teachers and I have experimented with different media (Acrylic, water colour, oils, pastel, pen and ink and mixed media). I love the challenge of trying to capture images with dramatic contrasts of light and movement and I hope you will enjoy this aspect of my pictures. I will also be exhibiting several pictures of cities (including Birmingham, Coventry, Manchester and Liverpool) in which I have painted a selection of images placed on the canvas in a way that captures what I see as the essence of the city (rather like a collage reflecting my memories of the city in question).
