Lizzie Bentley – Still Life Painting

Venue: The Brook Arts Hub. 24 Cottage Lane, Next to Anne Hathaway’s cottage in Stratford upon Avon.
Cost: £20 per class
Timing: 10am to 1pm Weekly on a Saturday Morning

This is a mixed ability class and all are welcome to join from beginner to advanced artist. Before you arrive, I set up a beautiful still life to paint. Some still life objects or flowers, The only request that I have of my students is that you paint from observation, and not from a photo or ipad! Painting from observation will get you painting with loose and free brush strokes. This is how the impressionists learnt to paint. I am an Oil Painter but you can choose to paint in any medium. All of my classes are “bring your own materials” classes. I provide easels and I can also provide a materials list with recommended paints, colours, brushes, surfaces etc.
I usually paint during the classes also. This means that you can watch me paint if you want to – like a demonstration. It can be helpful to watch other artists paint but you’ll also want to get painting yourself! You can ask me questions anytime during the class and I also wander around the class offering tips and advice.
Lizzie Bentley Studied FIne Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art (Oxford University) and then went on to study painting at Heatherley’s School of Art.
