Lizzie Bentley – Painting the Portrait

Venue: The Brook Arts Hub. 24 Cottage Lane, Next to Anne Hathaway’s cottage in Stratford upon Avon.
Cost: £20 per class pay as you go
Timing: 1.30pm to 4.30pm Weekly on a Friday.
Date: 14 February to 4 July 2025

This is a mixed ability Portrait Painting class and all are welcome to join from beginner to advanced artist. There will be a live seated clothed model for the class to paint. Painting from observation will get you painting with loose and free brush strokes. This is how the impressionists learnt to paint. I am an Oil Painter but you can choose to paint in any medium.You can also choose to draw with pencils, charcoal or use pastels if you prefer. All of my classes are “bring your own materials” classes. I provide easels and I can also provide a materials list with recommended paints, colours, brushes, surfaces etc.
I usually paint during the classes also. This means that you can watch me paint if you want to – like a demonstration. It can be helpful to watch other artists paint but you’ll also want to get painting yourself! You can ask me questions anytime during the class and I also wander around the class offering tips and advice.
Lizzie Bentley Studied FIne Art at the Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art (Oxford University) and then went on to study painting at Heatherley’s School of Art.
This is a new class at the very exciting new Brook Arts Hub Venue, next to Anne Hathaway’s cottage.
