Poster and programme for Alexmas 24 at Art at the Alex

FREE ENTRY. An annual event now in its third year, emphasising and encouraging creativity in our lovely town. Alongside the monthly art exhibitions and displays artists and makers we offer stalls featuring local work, with artisans demonstrating their crafts. On Steampunk Saturday (7th Dec) they will be wearing costume. This year we have 10 artist-led drop-in, FREE no-book workshops aimed at making the season special. Most are aimed at adults, but also suitable for accompanied art-y children aged 7+ years. Each day offers a special activity and timings for workshops vary, but artist-taught activities, each led by a different artist, include: Hand printed cards, rag rugging, mindful drawing, gelli printing, Yorkshire buttons/baubles, foil and card decorations, origami, painting china, Dorset buttons/baubles and (the only child-specific session) children's christmas card making. Check our website or Facebook page for more information on individual events.

Art at the Alex is a Victorian pub with three artists studios (those of Steve Davies (printmaker), Chris Pegler (weaver, spinner and dyer) and John Thompson (photographer). For Alexmas it opens on Sundays too (usually Friday and Saturday), and is open until 23rd December (last day of exhibition is 22nd December). It closes annually from 23rd Dec to 14 Feb, so this is a great time to visit. There is a licensed cafe with homemade food, cakes etc. on site and a wild garden. Always artists here and we love welcoming art lovers and showing the place off.

Located at 72-73 James Street, Rugby CV21 2SL there are surface and multi story car parks adjacent to the Alex. (Parking in these is £1 per three hours). We are easy walking distance from Rugby Art Gallery and Museum (which from 30th November is showing the Rugby Open - yet more local art!)
