FREE EVENT. Meet artists, browse showcases and gallery and buy very special gifts. Artists present and working this weekend are resident co-owners of The Alex - Steve Davies (@stevedavies1st: lino and woodcut printmaker) and Chris Pegler (@peglerpurl: a fibre artist using floor looms, spinning wheels, dyes and knitting machines). At each Alex Arts Weekend there are have visiting artists working, selling and displaying work alongside them.
During November the cafe-gallery guest artist is nature-inspired watercolurist Magdalena Edwards. Magdalena will also be on hand to talk about her work and sell items, from originals to giftware with her images printed on them.
Other visiting artists here in person across that weekend are silversmiths Michelle Prior (@Blackberryharejewellery) and Jo Thomas (@Blackcatsilver) who has moved a jewellry bench into the Alex so is there for both Alex Arts Weekends; Sarais Crawshaw (@saraisbron), well known wildlife artist recently a finalist in the David Shepherd Wildlife Artist awards; Bethany Hughes (@BlueCoppice) whose counted cross stitch kits have an international following; and Sandi Woods (@sandiwoodsdesigner) an extraordinary lacemaker, again with an international reputation; Jess Harthorn (@jessi_illustrates) illustrator, educator and mural artist; Angela Dewes (@barn_yarn_farm) with handspun, woven and felted houseware and accessories; Cathryn Essex, displaying her floral arrangements and wreaths; and Tamsen Flack (@ceramicsnsilks) whose work spans ecoprinting, silk painting and ceramic ornaments and jewellry. These friendly artists love to show you how they make work and also talk about that work and guide any purchasing decisions.
We also have additional work on display in cabinets and the licensed cafe-bar offers inexpensive snacks and drinks.
