Artform: Jewellery & silversmithing
My aim is to create unusual and unique jewellery that resonates with the wearer’s individual personality and makes them feel special.
I mostly work in recycled sterling silver and natural semi-precious gemstones, occasionally adding details in copper, brass or vitreous enamels. My inspiration comes from nature, plants, art, antiques, music, performing arts, and sometimes from my cats, but mostly from the beauty in the materials themselves – the colours of the stones and the metal.
I first took up silversmithing at Leamington College ten years ago and I fell in love with making jewellery. I bought tools and have been making jewellery at home ever since. I love designing and making processes. For each new idea, the process begins with creative problem solving, considering how the design can be constructed using traditional silversmithing techniques and it is immensely satisfying when an imagined design becomes a completed piece of jewellery.
