Initially I trained as a Theatre Designer whilst my Masters degree specialised in British and American Cinema. Consequently, I have a particular interest in how narratives have been explored within the Arts. I take inspiration from Book Illustration from the Victorian Era together with Magical Realism whether in literature, fine art or cinema.
Over recent years I have developed my own cast of characters – some animal, some human – who play out different scenarios. I realise my compositions using a range of appropriate media. My work is often small in scale as if it has been lifted from a story book. I like to encourage the viewer to conjure up their own narratives based upon my imagery.
