Kate Sargent
Art @ The Croft
Artform: Painting ,Photography
Kate began taking photographs at a young age, encouraged by her father who was an accomplished amateur photographer. Her approach to photography was typically to record events, rather than as an art form.
After retiring from a career in local government, Kate retrained as a garden designer. Gardens had always been her passion and her sanctuary, and photographing plants and gardens was a way of capturing the things that inspired her. Retirement also brought opportunities to develop her artistic creativity. She began painting in watercolour, with the plants that she loves as her focus. Through changing personal circumstances spending time in her own garden became increasingly important to her, and she returned to photography. Opportunites offered by the Warwickshire County Council ACL course on Landart Photography using a Smartphone have helped her to focus her interest, and gain greater understanding and skill in this artform. She often uses a macro lens to explore her subjects.
