Since 2000, Warwickshire Open Studios has been helping visual artists and designer makers across the Warwickshire and Coventry area connect with art lovers who enjoy, buy, commission and participate in their work. We are a self-funded membership organisation run by a voluntary team who are mostly artists themselves.
Our Summer Art Weeks event is open to all – from passionate amateurs to professional artists – and attracts an average of 30,000 visits each year. A true celebration of the variety and quality of visual art that can be found across Coventry and Warwickshire, it includes paintings, photography, installations, ceramics, glassware, stoneware, jewellery, drawings, printmaking, textiles and metalwork.
Opening your studio or home has so many benefits for the artists. It’s a great, low cost option to show people your work, talk about your techniques and inspirations, and listen to what visitors have to say; in return, you will hopefully sell some of your work! In 2019, the average artist sales were over £1,100. But it’s not just about sales – having feedback and talking to others about your art is incredibly rewarding and invaluable in developing your practice and growing your confidence.
Artists can be creative about where they show their work: it could be at home, in a studio, workshop or garden. Pop-up exhibitions have been held in cafes, offices, barns, museums and church halls. Installations have even taken place in allotments, canal basins and railway carriages!
To take part in our event, you need to become a member, find a venue and then register through the website. You can take part either as an individual or as part of a group. If you represent an organisation, you can register as a gallery, business or society. If you are a school, college or other educational venue, you can take part as a formal educational establishment. (Contact email@example.com if this is of interest).
We organise the county's biggest FREE arts event, our annual Summer Art Weeks, run over two weeks in June/July. It's a friendly, relaxed way to view art in artists' homes, studios and gardens and it becomes more popular with visitors each year. This year we will be producing an e-Brochure to help you discover those favourite artists and plan your visits.
Join as a member - £25
For an annual membership fee of £25 we offer year-round support, advice, access to a large artist network across the Midlands and beyond, as well as the opportunity to take part in events, talks and workshops. Plus the endorsement of quality that Warwickshire Open Studios is known for.
Summer Art Weeks - Individual £75, Small group £200, Large Group (8+) £300
You will get your own area on the Summer Art Weeks part of the website as well as text, image and hyperlinks in the e-Brochure that is being produced for the 2021 event. In addition, we mount an effective publicity campaign across the county and further afield, including active social media accounts.
We have simplified the options for groups. You can have a small group of up to 7 artists and the fee for this is £200; for groups of 8 or more artists it is £300 for the group. You will get a group entry in the e-Brochure and website.
#artweeksfromhome - £45
Following the success of the 2020 virtual event #artweeksfromhome we are going to repeat this for 2021 alongside the physical event. Participating artists will have a dedicated Profile page where they can load up to 12 images of work, links to social media pages and selling sites alongside video and text content. This will be publicised widely through our successful social media pages and a series of themed videos produced that showcase the artists' work.
If you are taking part in the Summer Art Weeks event as an individual artist or as part of a group then you are automatically part of the virtual event as long as you complete your profile page. There is also the opportunity to just take part in the virtual event.
