New Course: Drawing faces with mixed media
Dates: Tuesdays, 7th March to 18th April, 10:30am to 1pm.
Description: In this course we will be looking at the basic proportions of the human face and constructing our characters based on this. We will be considering the expression and detail of facial features including eyes, ears, and mouths.
This course will build on the on the recent 'Figures in the Landscape' course.
This course is not life drawing but is designed to give students the background knowledge they need in order to make a starting point on this subject.
I am a mixed media artist whose inspiration to create is inspired by the world around me. I am always striving to interpret aspects of the natural world in my own way so that it captures the essence of what speaks to me.
I particularly love using acrylic inks combined with other media to create texture, colour and light.
My journey has been experimental and I have worked in many mediums with varying success in a quest to achieve something that feels like its telling my story.
There are surprises and disappointments along the way but always a learning opportunity to be had and the element of the unexpected in what I do.
I very much enjoy the teaching element of my art and my focus is always to encourage experimentation and to build confidence in my students. Those who come to my classes will not leave with a finished painting but with a collection of ideas and techniques with which they can develop their own practice or the passion to try something new!
I run classes and workshops for art groups based on a variety of techniques. I find this aspect of my work very inspiring. Since moving to the area recently I am looking to find new venues for exhibiting work and for running workshops. Currently I have classes running from my home and will be looking forward to taking groups into the great outdoors come the springtime.
