I have been engaged in art making throughout my life, using a range of materials and art forms. I am interested in the therapeutic and healing aspect of art making and worked as an art therapist for many years in Newham, East London.
After completing the Post Graduate certificate in art therapy in 1991 at St Albans Art College, I set up and established art therapy in mental health services in Newham, both in an acute hospital and in a day hospital and day centre. I then worked in adult learning disability services, running groups and individual art therapy services for people with a range of learning disabilities including autism and those with emotional difficulties.
I also worked in private practice and as clinical supervisor.
More recently I have worked in education both as a teacher and support worker with young adults with disabilities.
I am currently engaged in making textile/mixed media images and enjoy the calming, rhythmic and repetitious act of stitching.
