I am finally going to try and do the Open studios in 2023! I am very excited to open my doors and have a chance to greet both new and familiar faces. The latter part of 2022 was extremely busy and thrilling, as I was selected for the Open exhibition Broadway, and Leamington where my swimmers were highly commended.
Also, two of my swimmer paintings were selected for exhibition at the Rugby open and currently I have a painting being exhibited at the Herbert Gallery for the Coventry open. In addition, fingers crossed, there may soon be a swimmer in the Mall galleries in London for the Society of Women Artists as I have been shortlisted.
And fantastic news…she’s been selected and is on display
Just had two pictures selected for the Bath open which are on display at the Victoria gallery . One of which has been awarded a prize.
In addition, I was lucky enough to have had a painting selected for the Compton verney advent calendar competition during lockdown and my Robin painting won a highly commended award at the local LSA a few years ago
After finally picking up a pencil again in my 50s, I have concentrated my efforts in learning new techniques in a variety of mediums, as I cannot limit myself to one. I feel extremely lucky to be able to sell many of my pieces to a variety of people, and undertake lots of commissions. Over the past few years, I have used the enforced lockdown periods to create new styles and found people have a real connection with my ‘swimmers’. I think we can all identify with that mix of fear and facing a new challenge. I try and capture the emotions that I find in so many different things, seeing a Robin beside me in the garden, a very spirited dog marching alongside its owner, the face of shall or shan’t i …. I like to use a lot of colour and if possible make you smile!
