I am a professional artist specialising in animal art, a traditional subject, but with a modern, colourful and contemporary spin on my style to create fun portraits. I like to create work that makes you smile! I enjoy painting different breeds of cattle, but welcome the challenge of painting any animal that catches my eye. Living on the boarders of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire there are plenty of farm animals and wildlife right on the doorstep.
A rainbow of bright, bold, striking colours are my core palette, I also like to play with plain and patterned backgrounds and have been known to throw in a monochromatic style in complete contrast to my usually colourful work.
I reacquainted myself with my paint brushes in 2013, more than 20 years since my training at Banbury School of Art. Now I love nothing more than being creative in my garden studio. It’s a fab space, it stays cosy and warm in the winter and is glorious to throw the doors open in the spring to hear the birdsong.
I'm focusing my work this year and exhibiting when I can following the title 'Paint what you blooming well like!'
Being in lockdown for so many months, I have been able to spend time studying the birdlife that visits my garden. On local walks in the surrounding Cotswold countryside I have gathered lots of inspiration from the local farm animals and wildlife and sometimes when I just dont know what to paint I'll drop in a tropical tree frog or a funky Llama!
I will be exhibiting in May for Oxfordshire Artweeks and also in August at Leamington Art in the Park.
